Can't load albums into iTunes ..??

Hi All,
On my iBook I used to load CD and transfer the whole album to a playlist name.

On my new Mac Mini Intel, it just WONT HAPPEN!! I can't get the songs to 'go across' to the playlists.. The whole album or one at a time ,, they just don't show up in the playlist!!
Any clues folks?

Did you create a regular playlist, or somehow mistakenly create a smart playlist?
