My power adapter just died. The wiring has been wearing thin and I've had electrical tape on it for about a week now.

Anyway I need to replace it, it's part A1036. Anybody has suggestions? I was going to order from the OWC website, but it says that that apple brick is not for my powerbook (even though mine is a 45W brick).

the edu price is $71 for a new brick, and it's 65W. What would happen if I used a higher wattage brick? isn't that bad?

Aside from that I don't want to spent that much on it anyway sicne I hope to replace my computer this summer.

You can use a 65W power adaptor with no problem. I use one on my 12" Powerbook.
