Is it possible to dual boot (easily) without bootcamp?

I'm gonna pick up a new MBP after the next update which I think is going to be at the WWDC, butif it is, there's gonna be no leopard, so I was wondering, is it possible to dual boot without bootcamp?

Failing that, I hope VMware get their act together and get DirectX 9/10 support out there, I want my RA2 on my (future) MBP dammit!

Any suggestions appreciated, oh and no command line wizzardry, something as easy as bootcamp, and free, thanks for any ideas!

What is your aversion to bootcamp. It is free and works very well indeed. IT is currently a beta / time limited but all you only really need to run it once and you are all set.

I love bootcamp and it works really well from what I've seen, but I'm looking to after it expires in september, if Apple don't sell it to Tiger users or for people who don't want to buy Leopard.

Initial reports suggest that apple will release/sell it to Tiger users. Also it is not like you suddenly won't be able to boot into windows xp when the beta expires. Boot camp is only the process to no destructively partition the drive and burn the drivers cd, after this is complete it is no longer involved in running XP.

As to other solutions without getting down and dirty i don't think there are any currently available but i could be wrong.

Does bootcamp do anything else special other than just create a partition for windows? If it didn't then you could use iPartition or some other program to split the drive and you could use rEFIt to boot into Windows.

First, BootCamp doesn't do anything other than non-destructively partition your drive and provide a driver package. That's ALL it does. Use it and just let it expire. But, didn't Apple also say they were indeed going to sell it to Tiger users?
