My grandma gave me her old G3 iMac with Panther installed on it. Unfortunately I don't have the Panther CD's since she lost them. So I created a new login and deleted hers and that was that.

But it is still called "Maureen's Cute G3" in things like the systme profiler, etc.

It's not a big deal but still....Anyway to change that without having to reinstall the OS? And for that matter, is there anyway to order new Panther discs/whatever? I don't really wanna buy new ones but if I have too I probably should in case this thing decides to screw up and leave me stuck without a computer :o

Go to System Preferences -> Sharing. It's the first thing you see.

If you go to System Preferences -> Sharing

You can change the name there.

Remember to reboot afterwards though, otherwise certain network based services like Printer Sharing won't want to work :)
