Caveat is I need to rate songs as well and keep track of playcounts. That nixes Front Row :<

Menuet?

Any one of a number of keyboard controllers will let you adjust song ratings via a hotkey and, I believe, provide feedback. Not sure about playcounts though.
 
not quite sure what you mean - think you can rate stuff using the remote with sofa control?
