My search.bundle file located in
HD>System>Library>Core Services
has gone AWOL and as such is giving me problems using Spotlight.
Would anybody be able to send me a copy?
daniel (dot) bentley (at) gmail (dot) com
I'd be very grateful!
thanks

i think you're going to need to do an archive & install to fix that

You might be able to extract it from the OS X install packages using something like Pacifist, but I've never done it myself, so YMMV.

can no-one just send me theres? I've read about it working with any file as they're all the same PPC and Intel.

Why don't you just grab Pacifist and your system restore DVD and do it yourself? It's not hard. Honestly, some people.

I've got a copy of that file if you need it. I had to replace it one time as well.

I'm telling ya, Mac OS X (and its coreservices components) are not capable of drag 'n drop installation. take the time, seek out out install dvd, and do the thing right. i say this only because it might save you a lot of time later.

I replaced my search.bundle file over a year ago, and it has been fine ever since. That may be the exception, but it can work just fine. I also replaced systemuiserver.app and the bezelservices.framework at the same time, which were extracted from a combo update.

well, I suppose that if there is no customization or system/user specific info contained in these files, then it might work. all I'm saying is that your CoreServices folder is the wrong place to be trying out experimental troubleshooting techniques.
