A house guest of mine is looking for PowerMac G5, something in the realm of a dual 2.0. He found one for $900 but the guy is shady.
He's in South OC so local is awesome, but whatever price you're looking for would have to include insured shipping.

Let me know if you have something. I searched and did not seem to find anything between pages 1-4.
Thanks!

(If this is against MP rules then lock it up and let me know. I'm posting for him because he is not registered/doesn't care to register/and I just so happen to be online @ the time.)

What kind of budget does your friend have, I have a 2.5GHz Power Mac G5 that I might consider selling if the price is right- otherwise I would just as soon hang on to it until they release new Mac Pros. :)

Send me a PM if interested, thanks. :)

I have a Dual 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5 that I would consider selling. I bought a MBP and don't use it as much as I used to. It is a great machine in excellent condition. It is the original Dual 1.8 with 8 Ram slots and PCI-X slots. It has 1.5 GB Ram (2 x 256 and 2 x 512, 4 slots open). 2 hard drives - a 160 GB and a 320 GB. I recently upgraded the Superdrive from the original 4x Sony to a 16x Pioneer. It also has an Apple Bluetooth Module installed (no AirPort). I have the box, keyboard, mouse, manuals, and original restore disks (Panter 10.3). I will also include a retail version of Tiger and iLife '06.

I think $1300 shipped with insurance would be fair based on what they have been selling for on eBay. Let me know if you are interested or if you have any questions. I can also send pictures if interested.

PM me.

I haven't gotten a response from the OP, so if anyone else is interested in my Power Mac let me know. I am in Milwaukee if you want to pick up locally (and I could arrange deliverly to Chicago area).

thanks

I did respond to the one selling the 1.8. He wants a 2.0 at least.
The budget? Well I think he's hinting around $1k so I am not sure if that is even possible. I think he can move a bit, but as you know $1k is a bit lower than I'd say most would go on a dual 2.0 but it is worth a shot.

Jessica, I recently sold a Dual G5 2.0 /3.5GB/Radeon9800/AP/BT on eBay -- it went for just over $1450. The general range of similar machines has been $1200 (for less RAM and the lackluster GeForce card) to $1,700 (for a machine equipped just like mine).

Unless your friend happens upon a very sweet deal, I think he needs to raise his expected cost, or lower his minimum specs.

I've got a Dual G5 2.0; 512MB Ram; Bluetooth; Airport, 160GBx2 HD (total 320GB); I could upgrade to 2.5gb of ram for the right price. Still looking for such a machine? Still under AppleCare! PM me if you're still looking. I am in North Carolina. I have original box/docs/discs.

I would (and am myself) wait til after WWDC just to see what happens. I know the octo was just released, but it was a very quiet release and WWDC is all about some of the main users of the pro hardware. If something interesting happens there, plus now that CS3 is out, I think there may be a good chance of some of these prices coming down a bit. Or, at least we can hope! :)

That is what happened last year around WWDC because everybody knew the Intel "PowerMac" was coming out.

The prices on most of the G5's dipped down ridiculously low. I've checked the prices just recently on eBay and the prices have gone back up.

Sounds good I will let him know. I tried to explain $1000 - $1100 was too low, but hey...it's not for me and he's not exactly motivated to understand why windows pcs cost less etc etc.

I've also been considering a PMG5 to use as a server which would last me a long time, especially if I stick an extra SATA RAID card in there. Anyway, with CS3 out and the MP's out for 9 months already, I'm wondering why the prices have gone up and who's buying or willing to pay more then just last September at this point in time.
