In intel's current processor lineup are the any processors that are better than the current iMac's but not as high as the Mac Pro's processors?

i.e. What I am getting at is...is there scope for the iMac's to be upgraded right now, or do we need intel to release new processors before we see new iMacs?

The iMacs use laptop processors, so until Intel release new laptop processors the iMacs cannot be upgraded.

Ahh, I see. Thanks.

Are the iMacs at the top of the laptop processor speed at the moment? Does anyone know when we expect to see new processors?

The fastest iMac and MBP processors are currently the 2.33GHz C2D.

That's the $64,000 question!

The only answer to when they will be in the imac is "soon".

Soon could mean about a month, or it could mean the end of the year.

If I was forced to put money on it, I would saw before the end of june.

This information should be available on the Intel's site.
