32 and 64 GB flash would be prohibitively expensive right now.

my predictions:
shuffle 2GB, 4GB flash
nano 4GB, 8GB, 16GB flash
full-size/video/touch 60GB, 100GB
iPhone: let's just wait until these are actually released

:apple:TV is another thing altogether. if they really expect it to be a media hub, it'll need at least a 100GB hard drive and an optical drive in future revisions. as much as Apple wants to believe it, DVDs are not going anywhere right now and they should incorporate a combo Blu-Ray/HD DVD drive in there.

I just wish they would release the next gen full size. My 3g 30GB is dead and I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a new one. I don't want to blow money on a 5.5g 80GB if the 6g is around the corner. I'm hoping for a 100GB touch with a screen similar to the iphone.

As long as we all have waited for the 6g, I think it might maake sense for apple to wait until the iPhone's been out a while to gauge how that touchscreen actually holds up under real-world use before committing to the same in the iPods. If there is some problem or cosmetic flaw (like before with the easily scratched surfaces) they can at least try to work it out and avoid any excess bad PR.

I don't doubt they have 6g iPods laying around, but maybe there are other considerations beyond even the one I enumerated.

Well, the only issue is that blank, dual-layer DVDs are still prohibitively expensive. Blank DVD+/-Rs just became affordable a couple of years ago. Can you imagine how much a 50-disk spindle of blank Bluray/HD-DVDs would cost?

Apple can start putting Bluray/HD-DVD+/- drives in their machines when a 50-pack spindle of blanks costs about $20-30.

My guess for the iPods:

Shuffle: 1GB and 2GB Flash Based

Nano: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB Flash Based

Video iPod: 80GB and 120GB HD Based

iPod shuffle - 1GB & 2GB Flash (completely waterproof)

iPod nano - 8GB & 16GB Flash (oh and it plays video on a vertical 16:9 screen)

iPod - 32GB & 64GB Flash & 80GB HD (vertical 3" 16:9 screen, but still mainly music focused)

iPod video - 80GB & 120GB HD (4" touch screen)

I think the iPhone still has many suprises yet to be unveiled, such as:
8GB & 16GB instead of 4GB & 8GB
3MP camera
user replaceable battery (under the black bit at the bottom)
cut down iPhone versions of iLife & iWork including...
iTunes Store downloads directly to iPhone

Well maybe not all of those but i would say at least one or two of those will come true.

Widescreen iPod 120GB - where are you???

:apple:TV with 120GB drive

Larger drives since:

iTunes Store to start having 720p content available (like XBox Live, can either download SD or for a little more $, 720p)...

Something tells me though that Apple will be going to all flash - maybe even on :apple:TV?

I would like to see the 6g iPod take the look and interface from the iPhone, and also double as a remote for :apple: TV.

This one is definitely more realistic than a (US) $2799-$5,000 64 GB flash drive  well, 32 GB isn't really realistic either ($900), but maybe by the end of the year they will drop...the sixty four down a couple THOUSAND and the 32 down about $800 you know....no biggie, but the 2GB shuffle is a definite go, along with the nano choices (the 16 GB flash drive is $170, more realistic.) I don't think they would phase out the lower iPod though. I think they would have a 40 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB (120 is still a bit new for apple to adopt )
