What Monitor should I Get...?

I'm sick of waiting for this this new iMac so I'm just gonna drop some cash on a 24" display to go with my mac mini. I think the apple cinema displays are good but those cost just as much as the iMac.

The best one I see so far is this Gateway display for $579.99.

So do you guys see anything cheaper?
Are there any things I should know before I buy a 24" display?
How come the prices shoot up by almost double for a few more inches of space?
