actually, its a 3D desktop, but wikipedia calls it 2.5D, mandriva 2007.1 has this built-in.
Metisse is a 2.5D windowing system, based on the X Window System. Metisse is available as a window manager for Mandriva One 2007[1]. It has many features that set it apart from the traditional 3D "Cube workspace". Windows can be turned 3 dimensionally in any direction, enabling the user to fit more windows onto a screen, and they can be scaled, all while remaining fully operational. Metisse attempts to avoid using effects such as wobbly windows, because it was made to make people more productive, instead of looking cool.
