There's a special event today?

Due to the Special Event today, you may update your avatar but the new avatar will not be displayed until tomorrow

If there is, pardon my ignorance, but ?

Yep, the avatars displayed in threads have been switched over to the macrumorslive server, so they're not being updated.

Probably Knox's doing...I imagine he'll switch them back in a bit when he gets a chance to log back in and the MacBook excitement has cooled down a bit.
