battery expands?

When I first got my Mac the mouseclick (for lack of better term?!) was loose feeling. It was like that until about two days ago when I started using battery power instead of the AC power. I went through about 3 full battery cycles (ran it down to 0% each time).. and now I'm noticing the mouseclick is more firm and normal feeling, which of course I'm happy about ;)

Why is this happening? Are new Macbooks shipped with a slightly loose mouseclick in anticipation of the battery slightly expanding? I can't think of any other reason this would be happening. And if I'm right about the battery expanding ---- is it safe?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "mouseclick". If you're talking about the button, Some of them are... mushy I guess you could call it. If the battery expands and it adds pressure making the mouse button less muchy, that's not good. Batteries are not supposed to expand at all, and you should telephone apple asap as it could be a safety hazard, and there are stories of batteries exploding floating around the 'net.

If your battery has expanded, it will warp slightly. So take it out and check it, e.g. place it on a flat table, and look if it lies "flat" on the table (on either side). If it warps, it's defective, and you should get it replaced.

Maybe you broke it in?

mine's "clickier" than most i find, and i use it a lot.
