so do they have a product that they tried to sell and no one bought, or what? seems much ado about nothing.
i like how they use Apple and the iPod in the title, when there are other huge players too.

Well, that's how you get people to listen.

The wording of that article made me want to strangle people, not to mention that if I ever hear "DMCA" again, there's a considerable probability that my muscles will tense so hard and fast that my entire gastrointestinal tract will be propelled violently out my butthole.

Personally, I think it's about time that we just start shooting people. At a tremendous-but-enjoyable rate. I'm completely out of patience with this species.

Build it, and they will come.
If they don't, sue the living crap out of them!

Is basically what this boils down to.

Just because you come up with a technology under DMCA doesn't mean everyone is forced to adopt it! That is the height of absurdity, but nothing really surprises me anymore about DMCA and the type of crap companies try to pull in its name.

The headline is Apple-centric because Peter Cohen wrote the article for Playlist magazine, which is a publication dedicated to the iPod.

As mentioned over at Slashdot, we should be supporting these guys for pointing out how stupid the DMCA (and DRM) is.

Sadly its not April fools.

How absurd can this get - a company suing others for not adopting their DRM?!

Total abuse of the DMCA. A bit like abuse of the patent system...
