When I used to visit each section of the forum fairly equally, with some bias towards straight mac-related topics such as Hardware, News, etc. my ads on the frontpage and in the forums would be for RAM, mac repair, and laptop accessories. Now that I spend most of my time at MR in the digital photography realm, the ads I see area usually about SD cards or websites that sell used cameras.

Is there a correlation, or are these independent events?

Some of the ads are Google ads that are selected based on the content of the page. Other banner ads are just in a rotation and not influenced by the content of the page.

Lexar banner ads with a photo flavor seem to be in heavy rotation right now, so maybe that's what you're noticing.

Interesting. I actually enjoy the fact that most ads on MR have at least some degree of relevance to the site content.
