Well, a little.....problem

Usually,when I press the button on MacBook remote,it called out a menu to watch DVD, play music...... but after I reinstall the OS, I can't do that anymore. I don't know what it call. What should I do?

well,what I mean is that I can't bring up the menu, I still use the remote to change volume up or down, or use it with iTunes to select songs, forward, backward, play, stop........ .
