Macbook CD 1.83 1GB

How much has it depreciated?
I've been planning on selling my MB(1.83 1GB CD) to replace with a 15" MBP, but now i'm thinking I might as well just keep this until it dies.

<vent>I'm extremely happy Apple has switched to Intel - I was doubtful at first, but I definitely think it's a step in the right direction... the only regrets is the fact that an iBook is probably worth more than my Rev A MB now!</vent>

How much would you say a CD MB 1.83 1GB (2 x 512) in great condition would go for?

i disagree. i think a 1.83 cd macbook in great condition could command near-refurb store prices, especially on ebay or craigslist. further, g4 laptops aren't selling for that much.

i just bought my 1.83 core 2 macbook over a week ago , i intend to keep it for at least 6 months

upgraded to 2gb ram and looking to put in 300gb hdd

original cost= 1,699
right now = 1,199

compared to the BY FAR more powerful

MB C2D 2.0 GHz 1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM 80 GB hdd
64MB vram
iSight and capable of running windoze.
original cost = 1,299
right now = 999

the computer that has (arguably) replaced the 12-inch powerbook costs 200 less than its less powerful, less compatible with the future predecessor that is now a full year older?

so, my point stands that the g4s hold their value WAY better.

to the original question - how much would one expect to get for a REV A MB?

Seems like if you go through ebay, they seem to pay refurb prices. I am in the same boat, have a CD 1.83 macbook waiting to upgrade to a newer MB Pro.

Check for finished sales on ebay, they are around 800-1000 depending on applecare, ram and HD. The latest I plan on selling this is with 1 month of regular applecare on it, so the new owners can add the extended applecare if they choose to.

Bring on the SR MBP with LED backlights.

The difference between those two are $500 for the Powerbook and $300 for the Macbook. I'm no math wizard but the percentage of drop of the Macbook is less.

I've not owned a Powerbook before, but I'm almost 100&#37; sure that the Macbook will be more practical unless all you're doing is checking e-mail and web-surfing....yeah, the Macbook (compared to the Powerbook) is more efficient and powerful (and cheaper out-of-the-box). Besides, I could thing of quite a few ways to invest money to get a better return.

But really, the comparison is apples and oranges.
