Hi,

My battery died and after that my 2.16ghz 17" MPB have become incredibly slow. Xbench gives me a 52.55 score (http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc2=224828) which is about the same as old macmini.

Energy saving options are showing full performance and machine have been rebooted many times. Next i was thinking to re-install OSX, but I doubt it will help.

I have been waiting a new battery for 3 weeks now, so i hope i dont have bring my machine into the repair service as it will probably take even more time.

If I take out the battery in my CD MBP, the CPU will only run at its lowest speed. I bet it is the same for you, as your MBP will think it doesn't have a battery, and is therefore running at its lowest speed. You can verify this by getting an app that shows the speed of the CPU, like CoreDuoTemp (http://macbricol.free.fr/coreduotemp/) or Ministat2 (http://shockwidgets.com/?widget=miniStat2). Thus it will be fixed when you get a new battery.

Thanx for the quick reply. Good if the problem is only the battery. Is there a any app that could cheat the computer to make it run at fullspeed even if there is no battery?

This is seriously annoying as most of my Logic Pro projects are too heavy for slower cpu.

No, the computer does this to prevent itselof from flat shutting down if it requires more power then the power adapter can supply.
