View Full Version : Anyone shipped new laptop to Australia before?

Hi, planning to buy a MB in Canada/US and ship to family in Australia. Anyone done this before and know whether there will be any tax/duties imposed?

I've heard so many stories of people who've purchased from Hong Kong and had it shipped to Australia and supposedly it is duty and tax-free.

In a Australia you get $1000 per year for gifts from overseas. This is Tax free. After the $1000 you pay Tax.

I assume that is $1000AUS in which case that MB is going to exceed that amount.
