All very nice - and I'm sure someone will be buying this exact system - but is there any particular point in this post?

I understand him. It's cool to configure such an overwhelming system and then admit to yourself that you can't afford it...

Didn't you ever go to an automobile companies website just to configure the car of your dreams with all the nice gimmicks in it for the same reason?

I did the exact same thing! I even threw in an exra 23-incher and an iPod. I think I recall seeing 18 grand in the total.

OK OK! Not very fancy. Only 2Gig of Ram, One 250 GB Hard Drive, No Airport Extreme Card, and No monitor....... But The reason I consider this one top of the line is that it is actually going to be MINE!!!!! :D Not bad for my first Mac.

I figure I can always add memory since I've gone ahead and ponied up for the 2 1Gig Simms I won't have to take anything out if I want to go to the Full 8Gs.
I think I can do better than $400 for the second drive.
I don't need wireless. Plenty of room on the switch for this baby.
And Yes I want the 23"HD Monitor but #1 I can't afford it yet and #2 when I can afford it maybe they'll have something bigger.

Regards,
