Hi. I'm new here and I'm getting a mac laptop for graduation. I like the new Macbook, but it is too small for me so I'm looking at the low-end 15'' Macbook Pro when it is refreshed and i am wondering what the specs are going to be on it.

It's going to be made out cheese. True. I saw some elevator photos.
Seriously, no one knows. Everything on here is just speculation. Wait and see.

And it floats, remaining suspending off of your desk. For better thermal management.

Now you're just being silly. The ice cream would melt due to all the heat from the quad-octocore processors!

I heard it comes with a flux capacitor to power those quad-octocore processors. ;)

Also I heard it would be coming w/ a terabyte of ram and 1 teraHertz FSB. And 99 Petabytes or, perhaps, if we are lucky enough, we might see an exabyte of HD. Well, if Apple was to really surprise us, then we might even see a zettabyte of HD installed.

And apparently it will all be in a nice white case just like the MB :D

Low end?
2.33 with Santa Rosa chipset?
LED Monitor (almost certainly)
Some sort of Robson-related RAM (maybe a 16GB allocated part?)
A new dedicated graphics card.
Should be a great machine. My 2.33 is fantastic as is.

Nah, that's all too sensible for Apple.

Nope not likely. Most likely 2.2ghz
There is no 2.33ghz Santa Rosa/Socket P core 2 duo chip.

I would almost buy a refurb of the current model when the new ones come out. They drop the prices so much...I was thinking of doing that instead of buying my macbook.
YOU SHOULD DO IT!
They will at least have santa rosa...just for the fact the macbooks have the same processor in them now.

Yeah but that'll be the high end.
It'll be the 2.2 replacing the 2.16 model now, and 2.4 replacing the 2.33. All standard with 160GB drives. Same RAM configs. LED, probably. New graphics card.

To build on the simplicity of the Apple remote the keyboard will come with only 6 keys.
And if you and I are really lucky then the Hitachi 200GB 7200rpm drive will be an option.

Of course, because they just came out with a 250 gigger (not 7200 RPM).

Ah, I thought you meant the Hitachi drives.
Sorry to destroy your hopes but the Fujitsu drives are 12.5mm high so they won't fit into Apple notebooks.

New MBP will likely have bluetooth eyeball controls via contact lenses
with embedded microprocessors. Microsoft will copy in 10 years and
declare they invented it.
Seriously, I am waiting for new brighter led screens + new
leopard OS. Every couple years you just HAVE to wait for a revision like this.
DO NOT buy npw imo.

I heard those flux capacitor's also power the battery, so you don't ever go out of charge, so your totally wireless.

True, it's supposed to have a touch keyboard similar to the iphones. So the keyboard can always change for applications, and you have the choice of 10 keying or not.
... and don't forget the flux capacitors.

I heard that instead of a screen it's going to have one of those systems where it has small lcd screens built into some sort of glasses. The the entire computer will be built into a wrist mounted control station.
But seriously, the new mbp will be a lot like the current one just slightly faster. (Obvious, I know.)

God I miss that joke. :p
Why is it that I always get so excited about new Apple products? Last Tuesday I had that Christmas morning feeling when the store went down.
On another note, my 4-month-old wanted to go see the Macs down at Fry's last Friday. :D ;) My wife was at work, so we went together. It was a lot of fun, and we even have a pic (taken on the iSight, transfered over BT to my phone right there in the store :) ).

Anyone else notice the huge influx of MBP's on the Apple Store refurb page? They have 11 different ones to choose from, although some of those are the older ones (1.83ghz, 512MB RAM). Most of them are the newest ones though.

Yea...I noticed that too. I've been trying to find some sort of "pattern" when new things come out but it doesn't seem to be...
I'm betting they'll all be gone by the end of the day. :)
Darn good price!! That's where I got my MBP...

the first step is admitting you have a problem.
