Whenever I wake up my Mac Pro (see sig) from sleep, the fans always turn on at full force for around a minute. This is the only time I really ever hear the fans. I am curious if anyone knows why this happens.
Even with the processors at 700-800%, the fans are rarely audible.

Its the fan on the X1900.

I wouldnt doubt the x1900 plays into all this, but the sound is definitely NOT soley the gpu fan. Its is also the exhaust (bottom rear) and cpu fan (botom front). iStat pro shows those 2 fans reving up to ~1500rpm after waking up, when they idle around 600rpm and when the processors are chugging around 900rpm.
It sounds kind of like a jet is taking off.

Yes, it's the 'dustbuster' action - it's a good thing.

Wait a second, I have the exact same problem. Only with a 4 core.

I normally have this:

When I wake it up I get this:

I don't think this was happening before...
Is the conclusion here that this is a good thing?

I dunno. I'm worried.

I don't get the loud fan noise that every one else is getting.

I have 5 hard drives that spin down and then spin back up when I wake up the Mac Pro.

Mine does this. I don't understand why you think it's a problem. Why does it matter that your fans rev up for a few seconds? Are you bored?

Bored? No.

I dunno. I don't think they were revving up like this before. And you know what? I haven't bought a good APC yet and with the storms we've been getting, I have been shutting down and unplugging when I am not using it for awhile. Since then when it goes to sleep and I wake it... No revving up.

Go figure.

Maybe it just needed to breathe for a bit.
