and your not a real mac user your just someone who can't understand good design.

you dont deserve to have such a good computer.

even an old atari might be a bit much for you to take.

i didnt mean to make it personal

but really even if you dont like the case how does that not make it a G5?

Woah there Adam.

It was meant with a great big ol' slab of humor.

No need for a personal attack, keep your shortcomings to yourself.

I think the design looks like a cheese grater, that's all.
I also think Apple could have done better, but I will keep my opinion open until I have seen one in the flesh.

If you want to act like a child and start handing out personal attacks on people whose opinions don't match yours... well, you have a problem.

there have already been many threads about the g5, why did you make a thread about the g5 looking like that, waste of space.

-Interesting

It's a tredn I've been seeing for a while.

Apple has innovated in another area. Before Ive's designs, everybody talked specs and performance.

Now we have aesthetics arguments - which are based on opinion and interpretation - rather than the computers' design.

It reminds me of conversations when a car manufacturer comes out with a new model - ar fargs it up (can anyon say BMW 7-series?)

The only thing I find wrong with such arguments, is it's about opinion - that's a never-ending path that often leads to people stonping on others opinions. That, I find very wrong.

This is being taken completely the wrong way...

It was just an observation, that's all.
In now way am I slagging the G5 off - i'll definitely get one.

Calm down...

djbombjack: i think the main problem here is that the whole new thread was started just to call it a "cheese grater". out of consideration for others on the forums, and this goes for everyone, try not to start new threads for random thoughts that certainly could be put inside of other threads already open. macrumors is a very popular place to go, and by no means do i discourage more members, but i do feel that members need to have a little more consideration for how crowded it gets here with threads.

Hmmmmmm yes.... it does look like a cheesegrater.

Its ugly, but it will be safe from view under my desk :).

Don't you wish all cheese graters were as powerful as the g5? ;)

I think lots of people are making fun of the looks of the G5 just because they can't find any thing else wrong with it  . I think if u titled the thread Looks of the G5 , Then people could have come here to discuss its looks, but instead you instigated an argument on a completely different subject, from now one you should create subjects that more directly pertain to the thread's contents.

i actually don't think it looks bad at all. though, now that i dont play games much, i'll be going for an ibook instead. so i still get no cheese grater!

Look, i've been using Macs since 1990.

And I ain't no kid either.

I was reading about it on the Apple website, and after looking at the pictures for a while, I realised how much the front of it resembles a cheese grater.

That's all.

Now I have these people replying to the thread with such inane comments as 'say something worthwhile', or at least to that effect.

It was an observation. Nothing more. Did people get chastised this bad when everyone said that the cube (with it's pop-up CD) resembled a toaster? I don't think so.

So drop your self-imposed pseudo-intellectual elitist comments.

YOU say something worthwhile...
