Although I think my problem is bigger than Safari.

The other day I used Norton to try and retreive some pictures I accidentally deleted. It found 6000 files. I turned on "preview" so I could see the images without double clicking on each one. After a while as the pictures were revealed my coputer started to slow down and gave me messages warning me to close applications or risk doing damage.

In the end, several apps (Toast, Limewire, Safari and some others) were knocked out of my dock. When I rebuilt the dock everything worked but Safari. It starts to load and then quits.

Norton disk check tells me that I have problems, but it can't fix them all. And I've tried re-installing and resetting Safari with no success.

Is this something I should take to an Apple Store? And if I wait and install Panther will that solve my problems or would it screw up Panther?

Thanks for the help.

Your first option should be to repair permissions. Go to Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility) and select the disk in question. Click on the "First Aid" tab and then click "Repair Disk Permissions".

If that doesn't work, talk to a Genius at the Apple Store.

Worst case scenario, you will have to back-up your documents, reformat your HD, and re-install everything.

Best wishes with fixing this up!

Thanks, Daveman

I have tried to repair permissions without success. I've also reset Safari with no results. I'm thinking the Apple Store in Cambridge is my next stop. Appreciate your time.

One more try...

Here's my crash log. It might as well be in Chinese as far as I'm concerned. Does it make sense to you?
