I was looking at the :apple: Store site (US) and had my student discount set and noticed that it has Macbooks listed at starting at $999, and it use to be $1049 if I remember correctly. I know the iBooks were $999 until the Intel switch happened. The other prices for the other Macbook versions seem to have the same discount though. I was glad to they're giving $100 off on the lowest end version like they use to have since I'm in the market for one.
Can anyone confirm what I noticed? I admit I may be wrong, but pretty sure about this.

I'll be damned. That makes me mucho happy, it really does. The MacBook's just gotten a little more desirable to a lot of kids heading off to college in the fall, I'll bet.
edit:Oh, but the other two didn't change(as far as i can tell)? That burns. Although i suppose we shouldn't complain, we at least have $50 less than what we were paying before. Ah well.

You are correct. I noticed this the day the updated MacBooks were announced. I think the new price is better with a more rounded $999.

This appears to be part of the push by Apple to get soon-to-be graduates to buy new hardware before they graduate. The Education website seems to stressing the point that if you're a student, once you graduate, the discount is gone for you.
