Im going away for a month and want to bring my mac with me and be able to go online. I have dsl here at home but since I cant transfer it just for the month that I'll be on vacation I am wanting a free internet service like netzero but they do not offer the free one for mac users. Does anyone know of something else, it doesnt have to be anything good at all I mean Im only going to be going online once or twice a week just to check e-mail, make sure my websites are up and running smoothly, and probably this site to make sure powerbooks havent been updated(I want to order a 17inch PB asap once they are updated for september which I start college). Now if no one knows of anything I'll just pay the 10 for the month of netzero but rather not. I leave sunday morning...

Does the free NetZero work on PCs, if it does then it will work on Macs whether Netzero wants it to or not. All you need to do is install it on a PC and then copy all the settings to your Mac by looking at the settings on the PC and writting them down. The seetings on the PC should be in control panels, the control panels they are in depends on the version of Windows, but it should fairly obvious.

Also if you have ariport then you could see if there are any wireless networks where you are going that you can access for free.

awhile back, i had a friend who hacked netzero, sort of. for the free version, they have a windows program that logs you on and keeps up the stupid ads. he wanted to get rid of these, so he logged in using the program and looked at his network log file. it had the password that netzero translated his netzero password in. he was able to take that password and put it in dialup networking and use netzero without the ads. funny stuff, lol. their trick is to just take your username and password and scramble them so you can only use their program to dial in--putting the unscrambled ID and password into DUN will just get you nothing. so yeah, you could sign up on windows, check the log (not sure where that is, but you can always google it or find a guru with a windows box and ask), and then use the login info to dial them from your mac. that should work just fine.

otherwise, it's probably plenty easy to pay the 10$

Mozart's is down in downtown Austin, right by one of those Dams. it's at the west end of Enfield, on Lake Austin Boulevard. very cool place, live music every night, right on the water.

I think it would be best and easyest if you just make use of all those AOL disks that you get in the mail, and find at stores. They give you enough free hours to go threw a month, just make sure to cancel in time to not be charged.
