I will be purchasing an MBP shortly for college. I would like to be able to do a bit of gaming in both OSX and Windows and was wondering if Parallels is a better choice over Bootcamp -- I have heard mixed opinions regarding both. Thanks.

Parallels is not good for modern gaming as it cannot do 3d graphics.

Parallels is great for running apps. but not for gaming. As swift pointed out, it will not utilize your GPU which is reallly important in gaming.

Okay -- that's helpful information, thanks. Is Bootcamp the best option out there?

For games under Windows, Bootcamp is the only option.

Unless the games you want will work in Crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/) :)

Or VMWare's Fusion if the requirements are low enough...

Fair point, I guess I was meaning if you want to run the best games without restriction :) But yeah, if the game is older, less graphically intensive then there are other options.

Unless you are playing Satan Sam then Bootcamp is the way to go simply because Parallels doesn't support 3D acceleration, you could run old 2D games though and what I've tried of Jimmi's stuff has worked as well.

It doesn't, but the list is gradually increasing, here (http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name) is the list of supported applications :)

I love how that list has no search feature. :(

(or did I miss it)
