Story on NPR (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10506330)

I'm not liking this news at all. I hope the FTC rejects Google's attempt to acquire Doubleclick.net, the infamous ad company... The reason I dislike it so much is because Doubleclick was responsible for some of the most intrusive and annoying internet ads I've ever seen.

I thought Google had already agreed to buy DoubleClick for $3.2bn some time ago, kicking MS in the balls who had offered $2bn for it. MS have now gone on to spend $6bn on some other company whose name escapes me right now.

edit: OK, so I was wrong...$3.1bn (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6554595.stm). Reported by the beeb on 13th April.

The New York Time article (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/29/technology/29antitrust.html?_r=2&ref=business&oref=slogin&oref=slogin) provides many more details than the extremely brief NPR story.
