Does this colour scheme bug you?

Im uncertain about the grey/white background and whether it makes it look a bit like 'grubby' white. The reason it is like that, is to allow for portfolio items i.e. logos etc to stand out more than on a darker grey gradient.

(I think that all makes sense) :p

Its meant to be in stark contrast to the grey. So it should stand out. If it was printed it would be Pantone 375 (if you have a swatch book handy). :)

The other thing is, I understand that it's meant to simulate light falling onto the "white paper" that curves slightly so that the top portion is a brighter and truer white while the bottom part is darker or "cast in shadow" slightly... but because of that, the green stands out that much more at the bottom because the contrast is greater. Did you use a different green for the top lettering vs. the bottom? I'm guessing not, but that would help greatly, too. I think only the bottom green text needs more attention.

And nope, no swatch book. I'm not a designer or anything cool like that. :o

Its difficult because I dont want to stray away from what I actually want it to print like but the grey makes it difficult to make slight adjustments to the green. They are either not noticeable or wildy different.

But I'd do anyhitng to please you Devilot *starts stretching arms* so I'll keep at it. ;)

that could be it. perhaps if it was a darker color font that'd make it less jarring.

It looks a bit dim though, like an underexposed photo.
brighten it up a bit.
IMO, black buttons with white text would be better for the lower navigation.
Use the green for rollover effects.

Its done in iWeb so no rollovers coz cant be arsed with coding etc. But I think i've cracked it by using a very subtle gradient on the buttons.

It REALLY messes with your eye because it creates a halo and is literally painful to look at. Kind of like Bright red on bright blue. :eek:

I agree.
Because the grey gradient gets progressively darker, it is harder to read the second paragraph compared to the first. Plus if you add a punchy yellow car/object next to it and a rounded (albeit nicely subtle) menu under the car, that lively area only flattens the second paragraph more. Maybe you can lighten the gradient a touch?

I preferred the original green hue over the new one. But I would have added a bit more yellow to the green rather than go towards blue.

The green is the same on the name as in the button except for the gradient. If I put a gradient on the name (which is stuartluff by the way) then it will be harder to read. :)

Not really... but I do think that depending on the diversity of your work, you could end up with potential colour contrast issues.
