Universal are recreating the world of Harry Potter in a new theme park.

Sounds pretty cool to me.

Will they allow mere muggles to enter? (I know, it was stupid, but I needed to say it.)

I can't picture an entire theme park based purely on Harry Potter, unless they were to recreate Hogwarts and/or Diagon Alley, the forests, etc. (which would be pretty cool).

Yep I think that's what they're doing. Just found another link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6706939.stm) with more details.

Edit: and another (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21829506-2703,00.html) just for good measure.

Okay. :o

So at first I was gonna tease max_alt slightly... and then I clicked on the latter links, and I dunno if it's because I'm silly tired, or what, but I'm genuinely intrigued. Replicas of Hogwarts. Mmm. Diagon Alley would be fun, too. Would they have portions that resemble London, though?

I hate to burst your bubble, but I think I hold that title. :)

I've traveled to London for each of the four movies. This time around I'll be there July 12th - July 22nd, so I can see the movie and grab the last book all in one fell swoop.

With "highlights" like the book/DVD orgy and the book frenching, I totally expect to see you on Dateline when they go after Pedolibrophiles.

Uhhhhh.... ?

I'm not conceding any title in this, but I laughed hard enough I almost peed myself. :)

I have to point out my costume for a Halloween party a few years back themed "*********-Up Fairy Tales". My costume: Gender-confused Harry Potter

they are using an existing mid evil section of the park (the north west corner with dueling dragons) and just expanding and re theming it to fit the harry potter world, so its really not that big of a deal

Of course they are. Now as long as they leave LOTR alone, things will be OK.

kinda off topic but i have seen all the movies and they are entertaining. are the books worth reading? or is it a regurgitation of the movies?

for every 700 pages in the book, only about 200 get used in the movie at best. If you haven't read the books, you are missing a lot!
