everytime i plug in my ex-hd to my MB it starts running really slow? this has never happened before. just today. any reason it's doing this?

External Harddrive making MB slow?

How is the drive connected? If you open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder, is there anything there that's either using a lot of resources or that is coloured red (signifying it's hanging)? Have you tried verifying and possibly repairing the drive with Disk Utility? 🙂
it may be trying to index the drive for spotlight search. you could tell spotlight to ignore that drive in the system prefs.
