What is the range of the airport extreme base station?

Hi guys!

I'm from Portugal (nice country) and would like to know what is the actual range (in meters) of an airport extreme base station 802.11n

I live 500 meters from the University I go in and would like to use the university wireless signal but I'm not sure if I'll pick up the signal with the airport express base station where I live.

Is there any way to increase the range of the AEBS? Like installing an external antenna?

No, nothing close to that, unfortunately... spec calls for 160m on a very good day, outside, without no obstruction. For that kind of range, the signal your university broadcasts must also be 802.11n.
