A quick forum search didn't turn anything up, so here is the 750GX from IBM. Sampling now, shipping in December... so quite possible that new iBooks are around the end of the year, to early next year. Last update was April 22nd (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/04/20030422103438.shtml)

It has the exact same pinout, voltages as the current IBM G3 750FX, so it might be in the upgrade market sooner?

Speeds up to 1.1Ghz
1MB L2 Cache
Bus speed up to 200Mhz
51.9mm^2 die size
< 8.0 W @ 1 GHz, 1.45 V

Hopefully the iBooks will get a new revision soon. This chip seems pretty capable. Hopefully this will go into the new iBook, along with a superdrive. Keep the same price scheme and I'll buy it.

Is there 750gx vs 750fx comparison? What is the advantage of 750gx over 750fx besides 1mb L2 cache? I read that 750fx is already 1ghz capable.

I want to see iBook with SuperDrive too. But I heard 2 main arguments that it won't happen.

1) G3 without AltiVec is not fast enough to encode mpeg.
2) Apple wants people to shell out more dough for SuperDrive, meaning they want people to buy PowerBook instead.
