Ipod manually manage music

ok what am i doing wrong.
I have manually managed music on my ipod it was getting full so i decided to delete a couple of albums, they no longer show on my ipod but it has made no difference to the memory??
Have they not deleted properly?

Sometimes i wonder how i am still alive, i was deleting playlists not the actual music sorry for the bother!!

It's a real bugger when you do that, cos you can't get them back (or, at least I don't know how to). 😡
