This is not an easy thing to do. What model iBook do you have? I have repared the power jack on an old clamshell iBook before (simply resoldered a broken solder joint). I can't really give instructions though - I just kept taking it to bits till I got the the power socket section. Ended up with about 30 pieces not including the screws!

It is a 500 mhz Ibook, with 2 USB ports on the side.

http://uk.geocities.com/ibookupgrade/ will give you an idea of how to take the thing to bits and put it back together again.

Taking apart an iBook, clamshell or dual USB series sucks. I had no less than 30 screws on a dual USB series that I upgraded the hard drive on. Its best to take it to an apple service center to have them do it.
On the flip side though, if you had a PowerBook g3, that's a different story. Replacing anything on those are a breeze.
If you do decide to do it yourself, grab an ice cube tray for holding screws, and make copious notes. Also, there are screws hidden under the keyboard magnets.

This (ftp://grijan.cjb.net:21000/macintosh/Manuals/ibk_dusb.pdf) PDF should tell you everything you need to know. It's about 6 megs so be patient :)
