I have a Powerbook G4 1.33GHz that I'd like to move now that I'm done with school. I've used this laptop extensivly for a couple years now and although I try to take good care of it, it shows the wear. That's why I'm willing to let it go for a good price (good for you, not me ;-)).

First the specs:
1.33 GHz G4 processor
12" screen (1024x768)
768 MB Ram
100 GB HD (upgraded in the last 12 months, 7200RPM)
10.4.9 OSX

Now the bad:
Latch (flip down part) fell off about two years ago.
Wrist pad is missing 70% of the paint, all for extensive use
Battery only lasts 1 hour, ~30% of life remains according to battery utilities
Charger needed a repair about 6 months ago and is held together with electrical tape (but works fine!)
1 stuck pixel in the upper left corner of the screen, stuck blue, hardly noticable.
Spacer above the right arrow fell off.

I'm putting all of this out there because I don't want any misinentions to any potential buyers. It may sound bad, but it's really not. I love this laptop and used it extensivly. It's still a GREAT G4 machine.

I can send pictures if anybody is interested.

Ben

Great, I'll post some pictures when I get home (didn't want to get out the camera unless I knew there were people interested). Just FYI, the trackpad is 100% fine, it's just the surrounding painted areas that have problems.

I'll be back later with pictures.

Hey guys, here are the pictures. I'm not really sure how to take a picture of the latch as it's just a hole where the latch used to pop out (activated by a magnet near the mouse button). Now I just close the laptop and it stays closed by itself, just not locked.

Edit: I might have overestimated the paint loss on the palm rest.... it's not too bad. Those lines on the bottom of each picture seem to be from my crappy digital camera, not problems with the screen (as it looks in one of the pictures).

Maybe not 70%, but pretty bad nonetheless. It doesn't appear that much care was taken with this computer. But at least it works.

Haha, I wouldn't say that I didn't take care of it, but on the other hand, I can't say it sat on a desk for all of it's life. The palm rest paint loss is exactly underneath where my hands lie and the latch fell off within the first year. But you're right, it works great.

I wouldn't say its necessarily been treated *that* bad. Replace the rear LCD bezel - < $50 on eBay, and the trackpad rest - again cheap on eBay, and you have a bargain machine.

It's not a matter of taking care of. That is a case of "pitting" which happened to my well taken care of powerbook. Luckily I was under warranty and complained enough that they replaced it. It wasn't as severe as this case, but it was slowly getting there. I don't believe it's a case of the user's fault. It just comes with good usage.

Here is a link to what this looks like:

Good luck with your sale.

Are those scratches on there?

I guess you could say it's been "loved". ;)

Given the overall condition of the unit (I mean - the appeal of the 12" Powerbook is at least partly its looks), I'd be willing to offer $325 shipped to Canada V3B 1L6.

Paid for and everything... by me :)

Anyways you forgot to mention if there is a Combo Drive or a SuperDrive in the machine?

Either way I'm good to go, but I'm just curious :)

Josh, Sorry I guess there was a miscommunication there. By the time I got the full offer from you, MulletMan (great name btw) had already come in with a full offer.

It's a superdrive. When I bought this guy I got all the possible options, minus RAM of course.

But, anyways, the laptop is in the posession of the US postal service at the moment. Thanks for all of the interest guys.
