With the 7,200 RPM 160GB in 4-6 week back order for the MBP, how easy is it to just buy the stock 5,400 RPM and then upgrade it yourself? I know with RAM it's fairly simple, but the hard drive? I guess the whole "Mac Software" would be an issue too...

1. Voiding you warranty
2. A LOT of screws
3. Pulling it apart

Now if the machine was out of warranty it's not scary to take it apart. I've taken apart a few PowerBooks and even with all the screws it was easy.

the body did not change at all, hence the drive is still a pain to reach. If you're comfortable taking out screws, lifting out logic board pieces, then it's not that big of a deal. Otherwise,

A) buy the drive, have some1 @ an Apple Store upgrade it for you.
B) wait
C) keep the 5400rpm drive and enjoy a longer battery life :P

Good luck friend
