haha. I need some help setting it up. anyone have experience transferring files and backing stuff up onto an external. how should i go about doing it? thanks guys

it's a great drive.

in general you copy and paste or in apple drag and drop.

there is a program called forklift you will find very useful. It is in essence a dual pane finder. It's really handy because you can see where you are copying to and where you are copying from at the same time with no window swapping. Highly recommend it.
