What day is it today? Tuesday?

hah...

For $500 you get twice the VRAM and 200MHz. And 40GB more hard drive space I think. Not really worth it to me. UNLESS you have too much money or need the video performance.

The 17" has the screen upgraded to higher resolution for $100 more. If you got a 17" MBP, I'd say the upgrade is a must.

As for matte and glossy.... I hate glossy. I love my matte LCD. (I also have Costco print my 4x6 pictures in matte (or lustre I think it is) instead of glossy. I just don't like the glossy look.

(unless it's on a shiny new Ferrari)

although a matt black a la stealth F430 with gunmetal or blac wheels would be quite awesome

It all depends on what you're going to be using it for. Are you going to be using it for hard, processor-intensive computing or are you just going to be using it for day-to-day tasks? If it's the former, then the higher-end 15" model may benefit you somewhat. If it's the latter, then you likely don't need the extra processing power or vram.

Everything depends on what you're going to be using the laptop for.

You probably wont really notice the 200 MHz difference, and the 128MB of VRAM will only really net you a few extra frames per second in games.

Thats about it.

The hard drive you can always just have upgraded at a later date.

The upgraded 15" MBP is a horrible upgrade (unless your playing games) all that money is going into the VRAM and it doesn't boost the specs that will effect everyone.

Your money is better spent elsewere (external HD, or 3rdP ram) etc.

If someone said they could tell, I would say they're lying.
