Description:: I was just learning to use the potty in June of 1977, and I am happy to say that both my bladder control and Apple’s computers have gotten better with time.

Looking back. I wish I would have had one with 48K back then. I remember them in school and programmed on them. They were very good machines with lots of expansion capabilities. I remember programming something called Shape Tables for animation and using Apple Basic (Can't remember if it was Woz's basic), and programming Pascal. Some of the Apple II's at the school used a monochrome monitor and a few color monitors. They were networked to a printer and shared a 5 MB drive. Yes, 5 MB.
I can see it would be hard to let go of those and move up to a Mac if you had a huge investment in software and hardware for it. Apple II GS was selling in the 90's that was backward compatible and some GUI interface on it. I wonder what those were like back then.

Happy Birthday!
The Apple II was the first Apple I've ever used, back in grade school.

One teacher at the school where I volunteer is still using Apple IIs in the classroom. He has some Macs too, but won't give up those old Apple machines that keep on working year after year.

Line numbering!
I saw numbering like that was some graffiti in a stall at a bar I go to. Except it wrote "this bar sucks" Gotta love nerd humor!
I can't believe how much time I spent playing with those at school.

I can't believe how much time I spent playing with those at school.I wrote some fun programs in LOGO for Apple II. I'd love to see them run again, but I doubt the floppy disks still work, or that I could actually find them.
My favorite "game" for Apple II was called "How the West Was One + Three x Four". Yeah, I know, I'm a a math geek.

Depending on how they were stored, they may work just fine.
Over 90% of my old Apple II floppies still work. Which is great - I still occasionally get the urge to play Conan, or Spare Change, or Rescue Raiders. Thankfully, my Apple II systems (a //c and a IIGS) both still work perfectly. I had to solder-in a new PRAM battery on the GS, but that's about the only problem I ever had.
I still want to eventually put a hard drive and CD-ROM on that IIGS, but it's difficult (and expensive) to find someone willing to sell the Apple High-Speed SCSI card needed to make them work.
