I want to upgrade the RAM in my MacBook 1.0 from 1gig to 2gig. Does anyone know the compatibility requirements, where to get the best deal, and if this is something I can do myself (as opposed to hiring someone to install the chips for me)???

Try Curcial. Link is at the top of the page. You need 200pin SODIMM 667MHz. You can do it yourself easily.

I just did it myself, today.

If you are going to do it yourself, make sure you have a very small phillips head screwdriver. The correct size is "00". You'll need it to remove three small screws inside the battery compartment. Search YouTube for vids on replacing ram in Macbooks. It may help to see it firsthand (so to speak).

Yup, check out the Youtube vids - also print out the manual on Apple's support site.

If you're in the US, Newegg and OWC are well regarded memory suppliers - I'm in the UK and use Crucial myself.

This a good site someone had on here www.ramseeker.com It looks a OWC, Crucuial, Datamemory websites and lists their price. Just select your system and go.

It's really easy to do once you have the tiny screwdriver.
