I'm running Outlook Express on OS 8.1. Anyone know why when I delete messages, they aren' really deleted. I have deleted all sent and deleted messages, but in the identity folder the messages are still at 150mb. Usually I just throw that away to get the space back. But I know I shouldn't have to.

Any ideas.

iJon, you don't have to do this. In Mail, go to Preferences, select the account in question, and Edit. Then select the Special Mailboxes tab. At the bottom, you should select to move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox. Then, from the pull-down list select when you want to actually delete the messages. Options include when quitting mail, one-day, never, etc.

You shouldn't have to delete your mail manually from Trash.

I figured it out. Holding down down the option key while lauching Outlook, rebuilds the mail file and then I can trash it.

Thanks,
I guess if all else fails read the help file. {Who woulda thought}:D
