I've just installed monolingual to free up some space on my mac (For those who don't know it removes unused languages from your hardrive) and in the list found klingon.
...
Is this a joke or has apple really put the klingon language in mac osx? I mean, whos gonna want to install OSX with a default language of Klingon for gods sake.
  :D

Nice find. My guess is that Apple didn't install it, but one of the applications on your system does have a Klingon translation.

FYI, if you're using an Intel Mac, I hope you're very very sure of what you're doing as you could remove certain architectures necessary for Rosetta to work. :o It's led quite a few MRers to need to do a clean install, afterthefact (which, ironically, is the best way to remove excess languages).

Yep it seems to be the case, you really can put OS X into Klingon, it's probably someone at Apple is a star trek fan, I was trying to find if Elvish is also supported but there seem to be lots of different types :o.

:) Thanks for the concern. Luckily i've been readin the readme and FAQ for monolingual beforehand and made sure that i didn't remove any of the architectures. just removing the basic language packs

Plus, you can remove unnecessary/ unwanted printer drivers and even apps (like I don't use iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie, iDVD).

I don't actually think any applications have been translated, even Finder just shows in English.
