I hope you're joking. In which case, barely funny, and not witty at all.

Otherwise, RTFA.

Jeez, I thought the joke was all right...

edit: if it was a joke. If it wasn't, it doesn't really matter does it?

i think the iphone may be bigger than even the analysts are expecting. being the "computer guy" or "apple guy" i'm often asked by friends and family advice/help/etc... on technical kit. i have never had so many inquires and anecdotal assertions that people are going to buy one and from people who really surprise me.

i have one colleague that hates at&t's reception, but is buying one and a plan on at&t concurrent to his verizon account.

i have another colleague that is border-line anti-apple. total gear head, the last 4 phones he's purchased have been top of the line palm-tops from japan that he spends days flash ROMs and customizing up the wazoo. he's getting one.

Humor is subjective. Everyone's POV is valid, and I liked it.

Dammit! So was I.

Anyway, I don't think the iPhone will do quite as well as people are predicting. I think it will take time for the iPhone to find it's place. At least 2008 before they start selling like hotcakes.

I was going to say 3.7"--which is the true size of the iPhone screen, not 3.5".

As for sales, future development, and effect on multiple industries.... the iPhone will be HUGE. And despite insane success in the market, some will call it a flop just like they did with the iPod for years after it was already on top.

Yeah, but it won't be as fun as the iPod because nobody saw the iPod coming. With the iPhone, everyone knows it's brilliant.

I was very sad in August, 1995 when the people of the world had their minds fogged by Windows 95. This will be different. This will be a triumph of goodness vs. crapness, a triumph where people make a conscious choice to actually go against the perceived (if not actual) market 'leader' (which isn't MS in any case). It's like everyone is breaking free from the Matrix.

Oh, but I forgot: anything successful that Apple does is a 'fad'. Like how the iPod was really the electronic version of the pet rock (http://www.connectedhomemag.com/HomeOffice/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=43957) and how it was inevitable that Microsoft technology would eventually surpass it. Ahem.
