Help transfering photos and music to new user account

I want to create a new user account and make that my main account. But all of my photos, music, etc are on my current user account. How do I transfer them to the new user so that I can delete the other user name?
 
once the new user account is made, log back in to the original, set permissions on the new user account so that the old user account can read and write, then drag and drop. I believe you could also use migration assistant (utilities) from the new user login.
 
1) Log in as the old user. Open the main hard disk and navigate to /users/shared.

2) Move the files to this location.

3) log out

4) log in as the new user; navigate to /users/shared again

5) move the files from there to wherever you want.
