Mac Pro Insomnia?

For some reason my Mac Pro suddenly does not like to fall asleep. I have recently installed an eyeTV and some other software, but I cant figure out what is causing the problem. I just spoke with an apple technician for about an hour, and they couldnt find the issue, so they wanted to do an archive and install...

I am wondering what else I can do before I resort to doing that?

When you leave it/When you press Apple (in the top left) -> Sleep/ or Both?

Does it sleep without the EyeTV plugged in?

It sleeps if you tell it to... go to the apple menu and hit sleep... or if you hit command-option-eject... it will sleep...

no it does not sleep with the eyetv not plugged in.

Just so you know, to avoid double posts, you can press the 'edit' button on the bottom right of your posts to change them :)

Have you installed any hardware recently? (RAM, Hard drive etc.)

Watch you will likely find it an EyeTV issue.

Seems to be some issues regarding sleep with Macs, and some KP issues on the Mac Pro.

Of course there are problems with the Mac Pro and sleep also, might try a safe boot -- but I don't remember if the machines sleep in safe mode.

But the towers generally lose deep sleep the minute you stick a card in anyways.

I had the same issue about a week ago. I discovered the issue was actually due to a button manager that my scanner driver had installed. On startup the program was set to run in hidden mode. My suggestion to you would be to turn your sleep time down to 2 min, open up activity monitor, and start terminating programs one at a time to see whats causing it.

I have the same problem too.. never bothered to figure it out..

I have the "won't deep sleep" problem as well. However, I know the source here. I installed a audio dsp PCIe card in my Mac Pro and it prevents the Mac from deep sleeping. Evidently, there are a number of PCIe cards that will prevent the Mac Pro from deep sleeping.
