Thinking of Buying a Cinema Display

Im thinking of buying an Apple Cinema Dispay 23", i have a MacBook Pro and i was wondering, when i attach it, will it be the same thing going on the display on the laptop display, or will it be just extra space coming from my laptop screen...if you get what i mean.
 
You can set the monitor to mirror what is on the MacBook Pro's screen or add it as extra screen space. You can also set the main display to the Cinema display or the MacBook Pro.
 
I have a powerbook 17" and tried it a couple of times with a simple crt-monitor. It is fantastic !!! You get a lot of extra space to dou your work. Unfortunatly, my desk is to small to add a second monitor.
 
Ah I'm going to buy a 20/22" Dell monitor and do side by side and buy a Griffin Elevator Laptop stand so they are roughly level 😀
 
I have a 20" Dell hooked up to a PC, but I wish I got a 20" ACD instead. The Dell just feels cheap around the menu buttons and the backlight is horrendous.

Synergy with my Macbook next to the PC is neat, though.
