The super smudging iPhone!

The number one accessory for the iPhone will be a quart spray bottle of glass cleaner and a roll of lint free paper towels.

I am concerned with face grease and finger prints with the iPhone. I took another look at the Macworld Keynote and captured a still from Steve's presentation.

Do you guys think keeping the iPhone clean is going to be a problem, will you rub your iPhone on your shirt to clean it every hour or so?

I will do the same thing I do with my Treo. Clean the screen with my shirt if I notice its dirty.

I expect the iPhone to get dirty very easy. Thats the downfall of a large screen like that, I am sure I can deal with it just fine.

As long as it doesn't manage to get dust on the INSIDE of the screen like my RAZR and Nokia 3595 did, it'll be just fine. :rolleyes:

Why would cleaning the screen be that much of a big deal? I think it's a lot easier to clean than cleaning say...your toilet or your car. But nobody complains about those =/. So...I'm going to complain about those!

What is with those freaking toilets? I have to clean it like...every week!! Would you buy a toilet that you have to clean all the time!?

I wouldn't mind cleaning the screen, I probably clean my glasses about once every hour, anyway. :cool: It can't be worse than the screen of my RAZR, which traps dust and needs to be taken apart to be cleaned about once a week

I'm merely pointing out that this isn't a new topic and that it's been discussed MANY times before. I'm not mad that you pointed out this flaw in the iPhone, I think it's an issue too, it just annoys me how some people continue to post new threads on the same subjects. Maybe I'm just being weird....

This is a problem with any PDA phone. People will probably make a bigger deal about it with the iPhone since it's so pretty.

I've always just used a screen protector (I recommend the invisible shield) and wiped it off when I noticed that it was dirty.

Nope, you're not being weird. This has been discussed ad nauseum on just about every forum for the iphone/ipod. Say all you want bad about the iphone. It won't sway my oppinion one way or the other but at least dont say the same thing over and over.

Oh, yeah, and my leatherbound New King James smudges, too. I don't think the smudges matter for the Word -- or for the iPhone.

Please don't insult people on this forum...it lowers the whole atmosphere, and makes the place a lot less enjoyable for members like Xander562. If you don't like something he said, there are better ways to express that.

what i'm concerned about is what i can keep in my pocket with it...anything metal may be catastrophos for the screen

(my iPod has sooooooooooooooo many scratches on it...there's not a half a cm^2 without some scratch on it)

There's no way around the smudging. Perhaps an iThimble made of a soft latex will do the trick for all of your iPhone needs.

I'm a big fan of Apple. I just wish they made their ipod screen more scratch-proof. That's sort of my big worry for the iPhone, that the screen will soon become super-scratched liek the black iPods...

now I know, get a case/sleeve etc. etc. I don't really like cases, I think they take away from the simple design, and if they cover the whole device - it's an extra step to take it out.

I mean, for a product that's gonna be handled constantly - be in people's pocket or purse or backpack from time to time, it should be tough. I think the nano's and shuffle's are a step in the right direction - anodized aluminium is pretty tough. It's also what's on the back of the iPhone, instead of the all-chrome backs to ipods.

I read somewhere that the iPhone screen is more scratch-resistant than the ipods. I hope so. For something that expensive, I don't want it to scratch that easily. Watch makers and high-end nokias already know to use crystal glass that's pretty tough. Of course, I'm no expert, and maybe using someting like that would be too expensive or thick or not work with the touch-screen tech they're using.

Have you people never used electronics? Smudges on screens are only noticeable when the backlight is off. Turn it on, you hardly notice them.

Try this: Wipe down your monitor and look at the picture. Then, turn it off and smudge all over the screen. See how disgusting it looks? Now turn it on. WOW! They may still be there, but you can hardly see them.

Dirt, however, is another story.

If you still disagree, get a smartphone. Most are crippled and crummy, but at least your screen can stay smudge free.

I'm actually more insulted that someone would think that speaking to a child (even an infant) is appropriate and helpful for their development. Men raising their voice can help since infants hear higher tone better than lower, but sounding like an idiot doesn't do anything for the kid.
