I love New Slang, but my personal Shins favorite has got to be Sleeping Lessons. It's flawless. Flawless.

I'm another Garden State Shins fan, but my favorite song is So Says I, which I think was the song they played on a Gilmore Girls episode appearance (they were on the show as a band, not just background music).

New Slang is a good song, but I think my favorite is either St. Simon or Sea Legs or So Says I.
I didn't get into them until after I was given free tickets to see them at the DAR Constitution Hall (about 15 rows back).
New favorite band.

Haven't heard much of their material, but this one is in my library and I love it. Checking out some of the other songs mentioned in this thread now.

My favorites by them are probably the one-two combo of "Black Wave" and "Spilt Needles" on the latest album, but "New Slang" is still a classic.

Over the past couple of weeks I have really come to learn and love The Shins. Everything about them is so anti-mainstream, and I adore their unwillingness to conform to a twisted world of music, but what really draws me to them is none other than the simple brilliance of each song they produce. The lyrics are more clever and satirical then most (if not all) music today, and their melodies tug at emotions as music should. New Slang is no exception.
