Hi everyone, I just got my first Mac. I bought the 17" SR MBP High-Res with 7200 RPM drive. Where in OS X can I find the info about the hard drive? I can't find anywhere to confirm that it is the 7200 RPM drive. I looked in System Profiler, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. Is there a widget or program that will tell you the manufacturer, speed, etc. for your hard drive? I searched around the forums already, but was unsuccessful. Please help me if you know how. Thanks!

Do a Spotlight search for "System Profiler" and run the top hit. Under "Serial-ATA" you'll find the model info for your drive. I don't think it gives spindle speed, but you can backtrack on the Web from the model number to verify the speed.

Apple Menu > About This Macintosh > More Information > SATA >

The model number should be there, just Google it to see if it's the 7200rpm version. :)

ETA: Beaten to it... :p

I should have read more carefully to see that you already found System Profiler. That's right, though, just Google it.

You guys are awesome. I should have figured that out. Thanks so much.

By the way I just checked, and it is the 7200 RPM. All worries gone!
